Shri Martand Trust

Trust Meeting

Shri Martand Trust was established in the year 1948 under the name “Prohit Sabha Martand.” The head office of the Trust is located on the premises of Martand Trust at Mattan, Kashmir, with a camp office in Paloura, Jammu. The management of this Trust has left no stone unturned to properly look after the properties of the Tirth. Since its inception, the Trust has managed to vacate encroachments through courts and other means. This Trust is among a very few Hindu shrines in Kashmir that are well maintained and properly looked after even during the dark days of turmoil. New facilities are added regularly to make the Tirth more attractive to pilgrims who visit it. Arrangements for their free stay are made entirely by the management of the Trust, and free langar is served to pilgrims year-round. Free medical aid is provided to needy and poor sections of society; additionally, financial assistance is given for the marriages of poor girls as well as widows/destitute individuals within the community.

Since ancient times, Holy Amarnath Yatra used to commence from this Tirth with the first puja of Charri Mubarakh on Asad Purnima while proceeding from Srinagar to Holy Amarnath Cave. The yatra procession would stay for two nights at Martand Trust.
